The SWAG2020 vs POG2020 Election, officially known as the First L'Manberg Election, was a presidential election in L'Manberg held between September 9, 2020 and September 22, 2020.

The election originally only had two parties competing: POG2020 and SWAG2020, but would eventually grow to include Coconut2020 and Schlatt2020. Schlatt2020 would eventually win in a coalition agreement with SWAG2020.

Background

After L'Manberg won its independence from the Dream SMP, Wilbur Soot initially established the country's government as an autocratic regime with himself as the nation's President and Tommy as Vice President. Over time, however, it became clear that the citizens of L'Manberg weren't taking Wilbur's orders as president seriously.

Wilbur sought to fix this issue by legitimizing his claim to power in an election, but an opposition party formed by Quackity, a L'Manberg outsider, challenged Wilbur. Since the country's governing institutions remained autocratic in nature, the election held a lot of stakes in determining the direction the country would be taken in the future.

Campaign

Election night

On September 20th, 2020, a half-rally/half-debate took place at the L'Manberg Podium. Wilbur, Tommy, and Quackity took turns giving speeches and answering questions from people in the server. George was unable to show up to the debate, causing Quackity to panic.

Fundy and Nihachu took over the stage to give a speech for Coconut2020, that began to sway both Tommy and Wilbur's chats. When asked if they had endorsements, Fundy and Nihachu logged off in panic.

SWAG2020 was next to reveal endorsements, and Quackity, panicking at the lack of endorsements, brought forward KSI. The endorsement was never confirmed.

After Coconut2020 and SWAG2020 came POG2020. Tommy managed to get an endorsement from Vikkstar in an unlisted video played on-stream titled Endorsement. Wilbur then introduced their party's second endorsement, Jschlatt, much to the surprise of the crowd, as he had previously been banned from the server. This "endorsement", however quickly turned south, as the senile Schlatt started by denouncing the democratic process and insulting the two main candidates, followed by endorsing Coconut2020 and eventually declaring his own candidacy.

Dream immediately endorsed him, and helped him chase down and try to kill Wilbur, Quackity, and Tommy. While running from their pursuers through Tommy's underground tunnels, Wilbur proposed a compromise with Quackity, asking him if he wanted to combine their parties into SWOG2020. Quackity thought about it, but decided that POG2020 was just using him, and decided to combine his campaign with Schlatt's to create SchWAG2020.

Tommy and Wilbur, accepting defeat, decided to log off together in the capital, as Schlatt and Quackity celebrated and nearly killed them over again with the help of Dream. Wilbur then read aloud the Declaration of Independance to Tommy.

At the very end of election night, CallMeCarson at the last minute endorsed SWAG2020.

The election results were announced on the September 22, 2020 at the L'Manberg podium by Wilbur. In total, around 250,000 legitimate votes were cast.

At first, it had appeared that POG2020 would be the winners of the election, winning with 45% of the popular vote. However, Wilbur reminded everyone that Quackity and Schlatt had agreed to combine their campaigns as a coalition, meaning that their individual totals of 30 and 16 percent, respectively, combined into a grand total of 46%, beating POG2020 by 1 percent and handing Schlatt the victory.

Aftermath

“	That was pretty easy. Do you know what I said the day that I got unbanned from the Dream SMP, and the day I said I was running? An election that I won, by the way? I said, 'Things are going to change.' I looked every citizen of L'Manburg in the eyes and I said; 'You listen to me... This place will be a lot different tomorrow.' Let's start making it happen. My first decree, as the president of L'Manburg- The EMPEROR! Of this great country-! Is to REVOKE the citizenship of Wilbur Soot and TommyInnit! Get them out of here! Get them out of here! You're no longer welcome! Quackity and GeorgeNotFound shoot at the retreating men with arrows while Nihachu cries out. Schlatt begins laughing. Oh, that was so easy! Until further notice, Wilbur Soot and TommyInnit are merely a memory of L'Manberg. A relic of the past. A reminder of the darkest era this country has ever seen, and I guarantee you all, dear citizens...Tonight that changes. We are entering into a new period of L'Manberg, a period of prosperity! Of strength! Of unity!	”

The first decree Schlatt made as president of L'Manberg was to revoke the citizenship of both Wilbur and Tommy, followed by lower taxes (despite L'Manberg not having them), and filling all of the fountains with Hawaiian Punch. Tubbo was granted the position of Secretary of State, much to his own confusion. Schlatt also demanded that Tubbo hunt Tommy and Wilbur. George was named a member of Schlatt's cabinet. The shift in power led to The Manberg Rebellion.

Controversies

Voter Fraud

During the announcement of the election results, Quackity made some offhand remarks claiming that the vote was rigged. Approximately 120,000 fraudulent votes were ultimately revealed to have been discarded from the election results, with the disqualified votes regarded as those originating from the same IP address. A vast majority of these votes were for Coconut2020, leading to their competitors blaming Fundy for it. He didn't deny the accusations, suggesting that he was at least partially responsible for these rigged votes.

Late Parties

If one were to go off of the original rules of the election as stated by Wilbur, the Coconut2020 and Schlatt2020 campaigns legally wouldn't be eligible to participate, as they were declared prior to the finalization of the ballot, especially since these campaigns were declared on the night of the election.
