During the Dream Team SMP vs. L'Manberg War, a group dubbed the '5th Battalion' was formed to fight the Dream Team.
Members included TommyInnit, Eret, Fundy, Tubbo, and Wilbur Soot. The 5th Battalion was originally formed under the command of Wilbur Soot, but its authority was transferred to Tommy, who promptly named the unit 'The 5th Battalion'. The members questioned the naming choice - for example, Fundy then asked, "Wait, the 5th? What happened to the other four?".
Despite the official transfer of authority in the battalion, Wilbur would remain as the General of the Army, overriding some of Tommy's commands in order to issue his own, and Tommy's title would not change to reflect his command.

Mobilization[]
The 5th Battalion mobilized on the first day of the war, each armoring up with mostly enchanted diamond armor and the occasional netherite piece. As they rushed out of L'Manberg, Wilbur told Tommy that he would command them during this war while Wilbur would be the nation's role model in his own way. Tommy agreed and dubbed his new unit The 5th Battalion. They went on to fight in all the battles of the War and were betrayed by Eret. Defeated, Tommy made one last desperate attempt and challenged Dream to a duel, though the actual challenge was mostly cursing Dream out.
Dream accepted on the terms that if he won, L'Manberg would surrender and he would get one of Tommy's discs, but if Tommy won, L'Manberg would be independent. Tommy lost the duel, and officially, the 5th Battalion and L'Manberg was defeated. However, Tommy went to Dream and begged him for the independence and promised him both discs for it. Dream accepted and took the discs, and the 5th Battalion had won L'Manberg's independence.
