So I'm sure we're all excited for seeing how Techno's prison visit will turn out, and there's a soft-expectation that it will happen tomorrow or Sunday. And we're certainly expecting things to not go as planned, whatever the plans of anyone are. It's possible that the Warden will no longer have a Prisoner in 24 hours, and it's possible that he'll have a new prisoner. So ahead of that, I'd like to defend c!Sam's time as Warden, because he's honestly done a great job.
General disclaimer, Sam's law enforcement (derogatory) and the question of if his actions are good isn't what I'm interested in. Just saying that from the perspective of "maintain the prison's status quo", he's been very consistent.
First of all, the fact that Dream hasn't escaped and only really is active when he has visitors (admittedly by Sam's words only) is proof that the prison is enough to contain Dream. Dream's character is scheming and crafty; if there were a way for him to manipulate, mine, or otherwise escape the prison, he would've achieved it by now. Between his redstone and his watchful eyes, prisoners can't escape on their own.
What about break-ins? So far, Sam has a near-perfect record on that as well. IIRC Michael, Ponk, Tubbo, and Jack have all tried to physically break in to the prison. Each and every time, Sam's "sensors" have tipped him off, and they've all been stopped quickly. There was a security breach with Ponk and the keycards, and well...Sam certainly made sure that they were returned. The only time Sam came close to failing was Tommy's invis trick, and I'm certain that Sam's got procedures in place to make sure that doesn't happen again.
So basically, we see Sam's character through a very biased lens because we never hear from when he's doing his job well. He's kept the prison going for almost 5 months now, and stopped all manner of interruptions. So I don't wanna hear anything about his character being ineffective if Dream ends up freed tomorrow!
