I'm not sure if saying "enderwalk Ranboo would" is enough justification for this. Ranboo's said that his current theory is that EWR just is him but with intact memories, and we still don't know his connection to Dream; EWR never tried to break him out before. Also, Ranboo's now gotten EWR mostly under control (he isn't going on random trips around the server anymore), and no one else knows that it exists.

That said, I think a lot of it depends on what Dream tells Techno. It's entirely possible that the whole gang busts Dream out of prison on the grounds of unethical and unjust imprisonment, since prisons are systemic oppression by nature and torture was never part of what Niki or Ranboo wanted.

My current theory is that EWR is being manipulated by Dream, and believes Dream to be his friend.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's correct.

It would be lowkey funny if after all this time of framing EWR as a dangerous scary figure he turned out to be just another manipulated minor- but also it would be lowkey sad

Yeah. Or like if enderwalk ranboo was just like Ranboo from @Jaderose35 's A Successful Confrontation AU, where he's just very much manipulated to think Dream is nice.
