Trigger Warning: Depression, Death, Violence, Gore, Trauma
Wilbur messed with the tuning pegs of his guitar a bit before heading out the rotting, wooden door, making sure to grab his rifle with his free hand on the way out. He made sure to avoid the large stones that had been scattered across the yard. He stopped in front of the two largest stones in the clearing. One read ‘Techno’ and one read ‘Tommy.’ Wilbur dropped to his knees and set his rifle on his right side. He strummed his guitar a few times before he began playing the familiar tune.
“Leaves from the vine
Falling so slow
Like fragile tiny shells
Drifting in the foam
Little soldier boy
Come marching home
Brave soldier boy
Come marching home…”
Wilbur let out a sigh after he had finished the song before picking up the rifle and turning around, pointing it straight at the man who stood before him as he cocked the gun. “Hey! Look, I was just wond-” The rifle went off and the man dropped dead. “I really didn’t want to deal with this today,” Wilbur mumbled as he stepped over the body so he could put his guitar away and retrieve his shovel.
He came back to find Phil standing over the body, “Do you need any help with this?” “There’s another shovel inside,” Wilbur responded dryly. Phil left to go find the shovel while Wilbur went and set his rifle towards the far side of the clearing, where there were no stones. He jabbed his shovel into the ground and began to dig out a grave for the man he had killed. Phil soon came out and joined him.
“How long has it been?” Phil asked solemnly as he tossed some dirt to the side. “500 years to the day.” “You’re always welcome to stay in the Underworld with me. Kristen would love it,” Phil suggested. “I’d rather stay here,” Wilbur shook his head as he looked back at his childhood home. “You don’t even want to stay with any other demons? What about Fundy?” “No. I don’t want to see him. I’m content here.” “This isn’t healthy,” Phil sighed. “I don’t care.”
After the two had finished, Wilbur went and dropped the body into the hole. They buried it in silence. “I need to find a rock,” Wilbur mumbled after they had finished. “I’ll help you look for one,” Phil offered. They wandered the forest till Phil had found a decently large stone. They took it back and set it on top of where the body had been buried.
“I’m tired,” Wilbur announced. “You’re tired,” Phil repeated skeptically. “Yeah. I’m going to bed.” “Alright then. See you later.” Phil watched Wilbur carry his gun and shovels inside before transporting himself back to the Underworld.
“How is he?” Kristen questioned Phil as he appeared in front of her. “The same as last time. He refused to come here and he refused to go see Fundy,” Phil responded. “If he hasn’t gotten better yet, then I doubt he ever will.” “Do you want me to go see him?” Sapnap suggested, who had taken Phil’s place by Kristen’s throne while he was gone. “I don’t think that’s a good idea,” Phil shook his head. Kristen sighed, “I almost wish that Tommy’s death and Wilbur being stripped of his powers had caused an imbalance in the world.” “They were defects. Them dying probably didn’t do as much as what would have happened if you had been killed,” Bad shrugged. “But what doesn’t make sense is why Wilbur seemed to have full power,” Kristen continued. “Being able to stop a god from even getting near him, especially for that long, will drain you. I would likely be fine doing something like that, but based on Tommy’s limits, that should’ve caused him to pass out. Especially since he had been playing music non-stop since he got here. I’ve been trying to figure out why he seems to have full godly powers, but Tommy didn’t, and I can’t figure it out.” “You were significantly weaker when you created Tommy. That could be why,” Bad stated. “Yeah,” Kristen responded with uncertainty. “So, can I leave now?” Sapnap requested. Kristen nodded and Phil walked up the steps to take his place.
