Traits: cuddle bug, cunning, romantic

Condensed lore: She met Quackity when she worked for him at the casino. They got to know each other and soon began seeing each other on a more romantic level. At this point, the relationship between Quackity and his fiancés had become strained, but wasnt oficially over. When he realized that he loved Eros, he oficially broke it off with them. Together, they have multiple kids. Eros is also a genie.

Quinn Quackity

Traits: practice makes perfect, proper

Condensed lore: One of three kids born before the Karlnapity fallout. She supported her father and took his side during the fallout, which led to her relationship with one of her sisters becoming strained and for the other sister to completely hate her. She works for her father and is best friends with the children of Technoblade and Dream, which her father doesn't approve of.

Valencia Quackity

Traits: genius, endurant

Condensed lore: Child of Eros and Quackity, also a genie. Wants to work for her father when she's older and looks up to Quinn a lot.

Makotu Quackity

Trait: silly

Condensed lore: Quackity and Eros' youngest kid. Seems to be some kind of duck-hybrid-creature and is very close with his father.

Eliza

Trait: loner

Condensed lore: Found in the deep dark and brought home by Karl, the warden-hybrid-creature was only ever passed around between the three fiancés and never really taken care off. After the breakup and Quackity and Eros' wedding, they lovingly accepted her into their family.

After a long day at the casino, as the moon replaced the sun, Fundy was the only one still going. “Just one more,” he mumbled, “one more shot. One over the stack limit, it’s fine.”

He was 23 diamonds over that aforementioned one-stack limit, but that was irrelevant.

Maybe this was why age requirements existed for casinos, it was too easy to get swept up in all the glamour, especially if you were under 21. But hey, wasn’t that the point of a casino? No one came here to win, not really, everyone just wanted to forget about what they’d lost.

To be fair, the casino did have age requirement rules, but Quackity was more than content to turn a blind eye to that whenever Fundy showed up with glittering blue gems in his hand and a clouded look in his eyes. Quackity wasn’t entirely without care for the fox hybrid, he was just a businessman, and Fundy basically screamed easy profit.

And profit he did provide, coming here day after day. At first he started out small, a few diamonds and then he'd leave, but that thinking quickly snowballed until Fundy was only mining for things to spend. It didn't help that the casino never closed, either - Fundy couldn't count on two hands how many times he'd stumbled out of the casino to find that it was a mere hour away from daybreak.

Fundy blinked, looking up. 23 had turned into 29, and as much as he didn't want to obey it, that was his cue. He had to basically force himself out of the casino, and even then he found himself looking back at the glittering building with intent to head back inside and continue. Fiddling with his tie, Fundy forced his eyes to look at anything around him, anything that wasn't the place he just left.

Thankfully, given the nature of the country, there were plenty of things to focus on. Tall buildings, lights, recreations of buildings from the Space Needle to the fucking Eiffel Tower.

That was something that he could focus on, okay. Recreations. What were recreations? Copies. Fakes trying to mimic the real thing, and though it worked at face value, nothing was real about it.

Las Nevadas was fake, that much was obvious. But that was okay. Right now Fundy didn't want something real.

Chapter 1.

Big Q´s pov….

Why do I even bother?

Quackity leaned back in his chair, drink in hand.

He sipped it slowly, staring straight at the ceiling.

He kicked at the floor, sighing. He spun around in his chair, now staring at the vast wilderness of sand outside the window behind his desk.

Jesus.. He thought, bored.

He then noticed the figures in the sand, moving in the distance.

That… Wilbur??

He leaned forward, staring at the figures that approached in the distance.

Wilbur.

Ranboo.

¨ Well I´ll be damned. ¨ he said out loud, a greedy smile spreading across his face.

Muffin´s pov

They padded across the casino, to the bar, where Tubbo was frantic.

Over what…? They thought grumpilly. They were in desperate need of a soda.

¨ You good Tubbo? ¨ They called out.

Tubbo either did´nt hear them or did´nt care.

¨ TUBBO ¨ Muffin said a bit louder.

¨ We need to go after him.. ¨ Tubbo muttered.

Muffin blinked. ¨ Who?? ¨ they asked, but Tubbo was already out the door.

¨ Wha- Tubbo!! ¨ They ran out after him.

Chapter Six: Vibrant Colors (From the Lights Fade Away)

Purpled slipped into the dim Syndicate Meeting Room. A small round table stood in the center of the room, six chairs sitting around it. Purpled narrowed his eyes, mouth set in a grim line. A corner of the room was much darker than the rest.

"Daemon. Face me."

Daemon turned around from his corner. Centerless milky-white voids peered intelligently at Purpled. The superhuman creature had black skin and was dressed in the dark color as well, red outlines on his shoulders. The hood of his cloak was drawn up, covering black hair. Small horns protruded from his forehead, and a thin tail swished tauntingly.

He smiled pleasantly. "Please, call me BadBoyHalo. Hi, Iris. How are you?"

"I'm fine, but I'd be better off when you and Ember are gone."

Bad narrowed his eyes. "What did Ember ever do to you?"

Purpled decided to play it safe. "Not much, he just burned down a few countries and traumatized a few kids. Nothin' too personal." His cheeky response earned a friendly grin from Bad.

Daemon/Bad was an Intriguer and a Shadower, a Slashskill. He was able to Manipulate, an ability that allows Intriguers to have access to their victims' thoughts; pretty much mind control and mind reading in a package deal. However, his skills are not as powerful as the Puppetmaster's. While the Puppetmaster could Manipulate anyone he wished to and as many as ten people at once, Bad could only do so for one person at a time, and for a short period.

Bad also has the abilities of a Shadower. Although unable to appear and disappear entirely, he is able to control darkness, and could conceal himself by cloaking himself in shadows. Basically, he could create anything using pure darkness, including living beings. His skills also go into a metaphorical sense. Bad is able to overwhelm victims with paralyzing feelings of fear, sadness or anger.

But fortunately, BadBoyHalo is known as the Dream Team Saint for his personality. Still, it'd be better to avoid provoking the good-natured Voidling...

Too late though, haha. Guess I'll have to fight.

"Feisty, are you not?" Daemon scowls, eyes slitted, and unsheathes his sword.

Purpled cocked his head, giving a coy smile. The netherite rapier in his grip hummed with energy, begging to taste blood. "I guess you could call me that."

"I really don't want to hurt you, but the captain's orders." A soft puff was audible, and suddenly Daemon disappeared in a cloud of dark smoke. The room's electricity flickered, then went pitch-black.

Purpled squeezed his eyes shut and sighed.

Both Gifteds heard a crackle. A small violet light appeared in the center of the room; Purpled's fist was glowing with electricity, and soon, his sword lit up as well. The young man grinned from beneath his mask. Moments later, a pop was heard as a lightbulb exploded from energy, and the room lit up with an eerie majestic purple glow.

His antennae twitched, Swiftly, he whirled around and a crash of netherite on obsidian could be heard as Purpled deflected Daemon's blow. "The lighting is much better, huh? More dramatic."

"I prefer the dark." Daemon whirled around and disappeared in another puff of smoke. A dark cloud began to rise, and uneasiness prickled the hairs on Purpled's arm. A few seconds later, the temporarily-electric lights dimmed greatly.

"That's not fair," Purpled commented, until he saw a darker mass in the silhouette of a humanoid. He swung his sword at it, only to realize with a sinking feeling when it cut clean through, shadow dissipating.

Alarms flashed in his mind as he suddenly danced to the side, yelping when a sharp blade carved down his arm. His head spun, warm liquid spilling down his arm. That would've cut me in half.

Another attack smashed down against Purpled's sword. He gritted his teeth as intense shockwaves slammed through his body. The grinding of metal blended with the alarm sirens in the distance. His thoughts clouded as blood continued to drain from his arm, and his grip faltered just enough for Daemon to shove him to the ground.

No electricity skills, it drains his energy too quickly. No fighting techniques were useful since he was on the ground. Purpled couldn't think clearly and could only raise his sword as Daemon's came down. As the metal crashed, Daemon's eyes widened.

"Whoa. Fudge, you're—you're a kid!" Daemon exclaimed. He dropped his weapon. "I can't kill a kid!"

"Took you long enough," Purpled panted. The room was spinning, and the edge of his vision was fading. With a pained grunt, he pulled himself up, leaning heavily against the wall. "So you're not gonna kill me?"

"No."

"Can you tell me where the Puppetmaster is?" Purpled asked as he tore off a strip of his jacket and tied it around his arm the best he could.

"Dream? No, I can't tell you. Sorry. But Callahan could help, maybe. Gotta go now, my partner's waiting." With a puff of smoke, Daemon disappeared, without giving Purpled a chance to speak and probably leaving Ember behind as well. Bewildered, Purpled started walking back, still dazed. He hoped the others were safe.

After checking up on the three boys he'd left behind, Purpled visited the medic, Daphne. He was not surprised to see Artemis there. She grinned at him and waved, her hand and wrist bandaged. Purpled smiled back and pushed aside the curtain to Daphne's room.

"Not another one." Daphne grimaced at the blood-soaked cloth. "What happened to you?"

"Daemon happened. It's not that bad," Purpled assured her, even as he winced. "I just thought I should stop by so you wouldn't kill me."

"You thought right," Daphne smiled affectionately and started changing his bandages.

"What happened to Artemis?"

"Same as you. She and Wilbur had a run-in with Ember." Daphne shook her head. "You know, her being her, she fought him off. She's quite a good fighter, you know. She'll recover, like she always does."

"Oh, okay. Good. Is Wilbur alright?"

"Yeah, he is. Ember poofed off too." The news reassured Purpled enough to drop by and have a talk with Callahan.

Harpocrates looked up when Purpled approached him in the Syndicate lobby. The satyr smiled easily.

Hello, Iris, he signed.

Purpled gave one of his rare friendly smiles to Callahan, also known as Harpocrates. "Purpled for now is fine," he assured.

How can I help you today?

"I had a run-in with Daemon earlier." At Callahan's concerned look, he added, "don't worry, I'm fine. He told me to ask you about the Puppetmaster's whereabouts?"

Ah, of course. You'll have to find him along with the other three.

"As in, the three?"

Yes. It's written in fate.

Callahan had special abilities, but wasn't necessarily a Gifted. No one actually knew exactly what Callahan was. Rumors say Harpocrates was a deity, god of the timestream. Others say that he is an oracle, or a psychic capable of predicting the future. In any way, he was all-knowing. Purpled knew better than to ignore Callahan's judgement.

"All right then, I'll go find them."

As Purpled turned to leave, Callahan signed one last message to him. Purpled paused, processing the message. He then accepted Callahan's gift, tucking it into his jacket pocket and zipping it up for extra security. "Alright, I understand. Thank you."

"Iris! You're back! Are you okay?" Ranboo asked the moment Purpled returned to the bunker. Purpled gave a short nod to him, before tossing Tommy his confiscated backpack.

"Here, take that." Purpled proceeded to return Ranboo's bag as well. He then slung a black pack full of supplies onto his own back.

"You three." He gestures to Tommy, Slimecicle and Ranboo. "You three are leaving with me."

"The fuck? Who do you think you are, bitch?" Tommy gaped at him. "And what about Will? And my dad?"

"They know. You'll be back to them soon." Tommy looked like he was about to protest again, but silenced himself at Purpled's glare.

"We could come," Ranboo offered. "But where are you taking us?"

"We're going to find someone called the Puppetmaster. Ranboo, can you let us out of here? I really don't want to run into anyone unpleasant."

Ranboo froze. "I uh, sure? Right now?"

"If you're okay with it."

A swirl of purple mist began to surround the four boys. "Whoa, this is goopy," Slimecicle exclaimed, looking elated. Bluish sparks of energy crashed and collided in the smoke around them. Purpled looked down and saw his fingertips disintegrating into pale particles.

Callahan was right. Soon his senses faded until all he could see was red and green eyes, and all he could feel was a comforting warmth.

A sudden cool wind snapped him back to reality, and he opened his eyes. Moonlight dappled the pine needle carpets of the forest in front of them, pearly rays filtering through lush green leaves. Early-morning passerine melodies could be heard in the distance. He turned to Ranboo. "Thanks."

"No problem." The hybrid looked a bit shaken from something earlier. As Purpled was about to ask what was wrong, a fwoop sound could be heard. Three boys turned to Tommy.

Tommy's blond hair was a shining silver-rimmed golden halo, blue eyes sparkling and mirroring the heavens. He leaned back, pulling his arms above his head. Two giant black wings that resembled crows' unfurled and stretched, feathers glinting with the sheen of snowflake obsidian. He looked like an angel.

Tommy turned to Purpled's impressed stare. He grinned, full of energy. "It's about damn time."

Chapter Five: Vibrant Colors (From the Lights Fade Away)

Life's been pretty crazy lately. Purpled couldn't keep up. You'd think the anniversary of your brother and sole family member's disappearance would give you an excuse to take the day off, right?

Yeah, no. And frankly, Purpled was utterly exhausted. But a job's a job, and Punz trained him well.

It started with self defense. Punz had sprung up the question one day, while they sat with a galaxy puzzle splayed on Purpled's desk. Punz claimed his little brother needed to know how to protect himself in case something inevitably went wrong.

Of course, Purpled agreed. And they worked on that together. In a month, he was able to deflect nearly all of Punz's advances, and knew how to hold someone in a chokehold, how to use different self-defense devices, and how to knock the assailant off-balance.

Then they started on offense. Punz taught him everything he knew; swords, spears, knives, bows, axes, pickaxes, hand-to-hand, martial arts, explosives, even how to fight with a shovel. Purpled regretted never asking where Punz learned.

And Purpled had given his all, but it wasn't enough. Punz just decided to walk away. He left.

Only a few days after his brother departed for one of his "business trips," Purpled had discovered a small box of envelopes on Punz's desk. Although thinking Punz had probably wanted them private, twelve-year-old Purpled's curiosity got the best of him.

He sat down and read them, one afternoon.

And when he exited the room, he wasn't the same anymore.

Inside he knew, Punz only wanted the best for him. He did this for the two of them. But it was still so horrible. Punz had only been fifteen, working as a mercenary to earn money for them.

A part of Purpled was sympathetic and worried for his brother. The other half was furious that Punz had kept it from him. He wanted to be there for his sibling, and Punz had pushed him away.

Still, Punz was his brother, and his whole family. Purpled awaited his return, so that they could sit down and talk things out, and within a few days things would be completely fine again between them.

He didn't think much when Punz was a few days late. He was a bit confused when Punz hadn't returned after a week. But he kept going on the futile waiting for a loved one who's already been lost.

A month over the return date. Purpled's birthday quietly slipped by. Two months. He took up mandolin as a hobby. Three months. Christmas crept by silently, and Purpled didn't even notice. He watched New Year go by alone.

Four months.

Punz wasn't coming back.

-- ｡°✩ ☾⋆｡°✩ ˚・--

"Wilbur? Shit, man, I gotta go! I mean, I gotta find Wilbur!" Tommy whirled around and started to dash out the door. He stumbled straight into the other "captive," the Slime who had been taking in with Ranboo. Slimecicle had somehow escaped containment.

"Whoa, hey buddy! Be careful!" Slimecicle called cheerily. Tommy shrugged him off and made a run for it.

"Stay here," Purpled ordered Ranboo. Then he cursed softly before turning and running out, chasing after the reckless blond teen.

Stupid, stupid, stupid. He's gonna get murdered.

"Tommy!" Purpled hissed into the flashing red halls. "Toms?"

Mad footfalls echoed from a corridor to the left. Purpled groaned in annoyance, and followed. What an idiot. He's obviously never heard of neither Ember nor Daemon before! They're gonna kill him.

Tommy skidded to a halt when he overheard his brother's voice. Resisting the urge to shout out, Tommy clenched his jaw and listened just out of sight.

"I don't know where he is," Wilbur's voice growled.

A soft-edged, unfamiliar voice laughed softly. "I'm sure you wouldn't want him to meet someone less merciful, Orpheus? If we don't get to him now, what are the chances he'd find trouble?"

"He doesn't get into trouble. It finds him first," Wilbur defended.

"What if that trouble comes in the form of something deadly? Or should I say, someone?"

"That won't happen. I've promised Lady Death I'd take care of her son."

Tommy's blood chilled. Lady Death, and Wilbur referring to her son...

They're talking about me.

"I know you'd do anything to protect Tommy," the person confirmed, "and I respect that. But what are you going to do when he runs into someone like Sapnap? Or Dream? Or Punz?"

Tommy knew who Dream was. People called him the Puppetmaster, the Spider, He who Pulls, God of the Marionettes. Dream sounded quite terrifying.

Sapnap and Punz, though, Tommy didn't like the sound of those names.

Suddenly both voices quieted. "He's coming. Ember is coming," the unknown person(?) warned. "Good luck, Orpheus." Tommy decided it was his time to step out, and waited a good ten seconds while faking footsteps growing louder. He heard Wilbur shuffling around, trying to look normal, most likely.

Tommy hated liars, and it seemed he couldn't even trust his own big brother anymore. He rounded the corner and ploughed into Wilbur.

"Tommy? What're you-" Wilbur spun around, seemingly startled. Such a good actor. "What are you doing here?"

"I could say the same for you. Why didn't you tell me you were part of this shit? Why didn't you tell me this crappy hotel was an underground base?" Tommy shot back.

"I'm not part of this, Tommy, I swear," Wilbur started.

"No time to explain, 'pheus." Tommy turned at the sound of Iris's voice. "We have to go. They know where we are." Chills were sent down Tommy's spine when he saw the look on Iris's face. Fear.

Tommy remembered that Iris was still so young, having to go through all this in a fucked-up world, alone. This place is so messed up.

"We have to go. They know where we are," Purpled breathed, after getting lost and finally catching up to Tommy. He knew he had intruded on something important, but it probably could wait.

Tommy stared at Purpled. For a moment, the poor boy looked mortified. But before he could reply, loud, heavy footsteps rapidly started approaching them.

Purpled's eyes widened. "Quick, to the right. Run." He turned to the two boys behind him, calculating the distance between the bunker and the intruder. "Go," he ordered, giving Tommy a shove towards the bunker. When they didn't move, Purpled called for them to leave again. "Back to the bunker. Find Artemis and Aphrodite. Go! Hurry!"

Then he turned and ran with light, padded strides to the meeting room. There was a dark aura coming from that direction, and from Punz's lessons, only Daemon could make that type of energy. Not knowing what to expect, he drew his sword.

Chapter Five: You Can't Fight It (You Can't Breathe)

"So this is the infamous Ranboo B'Luvid, huh?"

A fiery brunette gazed up at Ranboo with interest. "What's a kid doing here, committing crimes?" She grinned at him in a friendly manner.

"I didn't—" Ranboo protested.

"That's enough playing, Artemis," Iris cut in. Ranboo noticed "Artemis" roll her eyes. He smiled despite the situation. She and Ranboo would've been great friends.

"Let's put him with the other new guy," Iris offered. He sounded tired. Now that the main drama was over, Ranboo finally got a good look at him, having taken off his hood upon arrival.

The Syndicator seemed younger than Ranboo suspected, probably not even twenty. He had a rather handsome face covered halfway by a black mask, and pale sandy blond hair. Two antennae with small, shiny purple orb ends bobbed from his head, matching the color of his eyes. He looked utterly exhausted, faint bluish bags under his eyes. Someone was overworking him.

Artemis and Iris led Ranboo down a long, dimly-lit hallway. Artemis was a girl of about twenty, with long, wavy brown hair and dark eyes. She dressed a bit creepily, wearing a hooded cloak and a sword strapped to her waist, but she seemed more open and friendly than Iris.

A silverish door slid open, revealing a small "bedroom." The walls were dark green-gray, and a scratchy carpet was underfoot. Bunk beds lined the walls, and sitting on one of them, facing the new arrivals was an attractive blond boy.

"HELLO," the boy called, grinning. He had tousled golden-blond hair and the purest blue eyes Ranboo had ever seen. He wore a red jacket and dark jeans, and a bright smile. "Oh, new friend! Who's this?"

"Theseus, meet..." Iris paused, glancing at Ranboo. "Ranboo."

"Ranboo," Theseus repeated softly. Ranboo had a vague idea of suspicion in his gut.

"And Ranboo, this is Theseus. He's a new guy too."

Ranboo shook hands with Theseus. "Hey there, mate," Theseus greeted. "Nice to meet you." His voice was heavily accented. He's from the northern parts of Essempi. Probably L'Manberg, by his clothing.

Wait, how do I know that? Ranboo was mortified. He hadn't ever been to L'Manberg.

"You 'kay? Looking' a little pale 'n' shit," Theseus peered at him. Ranboo coughed, saying he was fine. Artemis left the room quickly, leaving the two alone with Iris.

"So, you guys are gonna stay here for a while until we get things sorted," Iris informed them. "Theseus, there's some guys waiting to meet you. Zephyrus, and his son Orpheus. They could be related to you."

"What do I do?" Ranboo asked.

Iris started to reply, but then the door slid open. Another Syndicator rushed in. "Aphrodite? What's wrong, why are you here?" Iris asked, tense.

"Lockdown. We're on lockdown. Ember and Daemon's broken in. And Wilb—I mean, Orpheus—"

Ranboo heard a sharp intake of breath from Tommy.

There was no mistake about the tremor in Tommy's voice when he uttered,

"Wilbur?"

Anyways to kinda make up for it, here's a brief backstory summary of the main characters so far.

Also, in the fanon universe of Icarus Theory, when you're born, your parents will name you something, and that would be your "real name." Then, when you reach 10 years old, you're allowed to choose another name for yourself. You can continue going by your first name (like Ranboo) or you can pick another one (like Tommy). Thomas Innit Craft

17 years old

He chose his name to be Theseus. He goes by Theseus publicly, being the son of the president. His dad named him after Tommy Innit, a child hero from the founding of the Essempi (read chapter two for reference).

Tommy is very spunky, sarcastic, and brash, but is also sweet and extremely awkward.

His biggest fear would be failing to protect his loved ones.

Grayson Wood

18 years old

He chose the name Purpled. Purpled hates people calling him by his real name, as it reminds him too much of his family and his backstory.

He's very quiet and cold and has learned to always rely on himself. He lives by Quackity's rules, mainly No Emotional Attachments.

Purpled has trauma from his childhood. His parents disappeared when he was three, and he has no memories of them. He was raised by his brother Luke (Punz), but their relationship was destroyed after Purpled found something he shouldn't have.

Ranboo B'Luvid

17 years old

Ranboo decided to keep his name as it is.

He's very shy and doesn't speak much. He's very anxious and afraid of people's judgment but can be very sweet sometimes.

Having Dream living inside his head, Ranboo became extremely depressed. His memory issues don't help either. He was once friends with someone he doesn't remember (it's Tubbo btw), and his biggest fear would be to forget everything else.

Slimecicle

~20 years old

Slimecicle never chose a name, as he became alive and was raised in a laboratory in L'Manberg, going by SLM-9808.

Slime is very bright and optimistic. He behaves like a young child and is curious about everything around him.

He was very upset about his friend Charlie's death, as xe was the only scientist he befriended. However, being a positive humanoid, Slime took it as motivation to move forward.

Chapter Three: If I Could Ride A Bike

Tommy stepped into a new city of lights. It was still earlier in the morning, and small snowflakes drifted from the sky, immediately melting onto the smooth concrete underfoot.

“What the fuck, why is it snowing in the desert?!” Wilbur groaned. “I hate it here already. And what’s with the blue?”

Above, Tommy could see a blinking billboard. It was in the shape of a circle, white with a blue border and red-orange lights, themed after the flag of Las Nevadas. A bright red-orange compass/star shape shone with LED lights, stuck against the upper left corner.

WELCOME TO FABULOUS LAS NEVADAS

“Haha,” Tommy deadpanned. Secretly, he thought it looked cool. As Phil led them into Nevadas, he told them about Quackity.

“His real name is Alexis; on his name-choosing day, he chose ‘Quackity,’ naming himself after the famous political leader Quackity of SWAG and Pogtopia.

Our Quackity was originally engaged to two men named Karl and Sapnap, similar to how the original Quackity was married to JSchlatt, then Karl Jacobs and Nicholas Snap. But in our Quackity’s case, he unofficially divorced Karl and Sapnap during the founding of his state, Las Nevadas.”

“Damn, his love sucks,” Wilbur whispered softly, too low for Phil to hear.

Tommy grinned. “How old is he?” Wilbur asked, louder.

“Twenty-two? Twenty-three? I can’t remember.”

“He’s young,” Tommy commented.

“You’re a minor, seventeen,” Wilbur jokes.

Tommy glared at him. “Okay, boomer.”

“What the hell?! I’m twenty-five! I’m not old, look at Father!”

“Yeah, Dad’s pretty old,” Tommy cackled.

Phil pretended he didn’t hear anything.

As they entered the city centre, Phil gave them both a little push. “Alright, I’m going off to meet with Quackity. You boys behave, have a little fun, alright? Come back here at six p.m. Remember to save some money to buy lunch.” With that, he turned to the direction of the huge, tall, glittering white and pale blue building in the distance.

The boys waited until he had walked out of sight, then split up, Wilbur heading straight towards the coffee shop. Tommy scoffed. He decided to wander around.

Las Nevadas’ city centre was apparently not too different from L’Manberg’s. There were a bunch of clothing stores, which Tommy bought nothing from; an arcade he spent two hours at; and an outdoors store, surprisingly, which Tommy looked through. He bought a black and gold backpack with camping gear and a first-aid kit, completely useless at the moment, but with children like Wilbur and Tommy, Phil might need it. Next thing you know, Tommy’s jumping out of an aeroplane.

He jammed all that, and a galaxy dark purple hoodie, into his backpack, which he wore on his back.

Then he made the mistake of going to see a movie. Typical Tommy.

As Tommy exited the movie theatre, it was dark out. His watch said 18:04.

Agh crap, I’m five minutes late. Phil’s gonna kill me!

Then he realised he didn’t know where he was. The streets were dark out at night, and he didn’t know the people around him. Of course, him being a big, brave man, he didn’t panic.

Well, he didn’t, until he felt something tug on his pocket when he abruptly started moving. He whirled around and slapped a hand out of his pocket.

Oops. Tommy grimaced as the guy, maybe thirty-ish, grabbed him by the shirt collar.

Tommy was tall. He was a bit over 6 feet. If Tommy was tall, this guy was giant. Tommy's feet dangled a few inches off the ground.

The guy punched him in the face. Tommy yelped, involuntarily kneeing the poor (not really) man in the crotch. The man howled in pain, dropping Tommy. Tommy didn’t look back and made a run for it.

He kept running in panic, not quite registering what he was doing. He only stopped when his watch buzzed an alert.

LOW BATTERY 5%

Well sh*t. I’m so dead.

The time was six thirty-one.

Tommy was at the Space Needle, a tall building he recognized from the odd shape and gleaming silver. That was half a mile from where he should be right now.

His phone wasn’t in his pocket. The rude guy who punched him probably had it.

Curse him, and his whole godsdamned extended family, Tommy thought bitterly.

Then he noticed something strange nearby. A presence? A person? Didn’t seem human. Having the ability of Aviation, his senses were much sharper than a regular humans, He could detect stirrings in the atmosphere with strange accuracy, Comes with the Bird Dad bundle, Tommy thought wryly.

Tommy paused, his senses twitching with confusion. He could feel something strange in the air; it rippled like electric currents.

He fully noticed the movement behind him when it was too late.

Oh sh–

Before he could react, someone grabbed him by the back of his jacket, kicked him in the knees and swiftly shoved him against the wall. A guy who looked like a mercenary pressed a sharp netherite sword against Tommy's throat.

Gazing back at him were the most beautiful eyes Tommy had ever seen.

Rain poured outside.

Tommy liked the rain. It was soothing and relaxing. It freshened up the whole world and washed away Tommy’s anguish.

It was also the perfect weather to read Greek Mythology at dawn, curled up in his blankets, his family asleep and all peaceful. The only sounds were Tommy’s breathing, pages turning, the faint skittering of his pet spider Shroud and the pattering rain.

Thump thump thump

“Toms! It’s six! Are you reading Greek myths again?!”

The door slammed open. His brother Wilbur barged in, brown hair brushed and fluffy, wearing a light brown sweatshirt and a collared white shirt underneath. He marched over to Tommy and yanked his blanket off. Tommy’s brother smelled like cologne.

Tommy wrinkled his nose. “Will! Why’d you do that?! And why do you smell like ass in the fish market?”

“So you’re awake,” Wilbur commented smugly, purposefully ignoring Tommy's comment. “You should be ready! In the kitchen, ASAP!”

Tommy stared at him with a look of blank bewilderment.

“Did you seriously forget? Father’s taking us to Las Nevadas today! He has an important meeting with Mister Quackity!”

Tommy jumped up with a shout, startling Shroud. He cussed loudly, looking down at his LOVEJOY band tee-shirt.

"Dude, you like LOVEJOY?"

“Get outta my room!”

Wilbur laughed as he rushed out of the room.

Tommy jumped around the room, hyperactive. He grabbed a “main character” red-and-white long sleeve and some dark trousers. Still spewing profanities, he rushed down the hall into the bathroom, where he brushed his teeth in the shower.

Tommy ran out of the bathroom, attempting to run down the stairs, but rounded too early and banged his hip savagely against the bannister support.

He shouted many unrepeatable words.

“Tommy! Excuse your language,” Phil called from downstairs. “And get your crusty buttocks down here!”

“Sorry, Dad!” Tommy shouted, skipping steps down. He muttered even more curses under his breath.

Skidding into the kitchen, he saw Phil pacing anxiously, muttering and adjusting his tie, shirt, jacket, and every article of clothing nonstop. Wilbur was packing his guitar into a case for after the trip. He sighed dramatically and pretended to wipe an invisible tear away; “Oh, goodbye, beautiful Simone; However shall I bear without thou?”

Tommy cringed. “It’s only two weeks, quit being such a theatre kid.”

Wilbur glared at him. Tommy rolled his eyes again.

“Yeah, keep rolling your eyes. Who knows, you might see a brain!”

Tommy decided to ignore the comment as he went to grab himself a bag of crisps and Prime mixed with Coca-Cola. Wilbur grimaced. “Toms, why? Why would you mix those?”

“Tastes good.”

“Yeah, well it looks like sh-”

“Boys!” Phil scolded. “Tommy! Get your jacket on!”

Tommy paused, finally noticing the brown trench coat draped over Wilbur’s shoulders. He cursed again, nearly spilling his energy drink in a hurry to shrug on a maroon-red hood jacket. Wilbur scoffed, smirking as he watched his brother struggle.

Phil pushed them out the door, ushering the boys into the backseat of their car, immediately climbing in himself and stepping on the gas.

They didn’t dip below seventy-five the whole hour to Nevadas.

Chapter Two: If the Miracle was Getting One Moment (With You?)

Quackity's office was by far not the worst room in the House. The walls were painted pale sky blue instead of electric cobalt, and the lights were white and round, not random strings of LED. There was a giant painting of the Space Needle, a tall needle-shaped building down the street, behind the cherry wood desk. Quackity sat behind it, papers all organized neatly in stacks or hidden in files. There were small picture frames hung up around, and a small flag of Las Nevadas.

"So how are you? Things holding up okay?" Quackity grinned at Purpled. Like always, there was a dark blue beanie covering his curly shoulder-length black hair. The jagged scar ran through his left eye, glossy gray due to blindness. Rumors said he obtained the scar from a duel with Technoblade, the arguably greatest fighter in all the lands.

"Get to the point already."

"Still sharp and practical, I see. It's nice to have someone with fire around."

Absently, Purpled's antennae twitched, sensing electricity in the air. He scowled. Quackity shuffled through a few papers on his desk, clearing his throat when he obtained a small file. Muttering under his breath, he flipped through the pages before clearing his throat again.

"Iris needs this."

Purpled's head snapped up. He hated that name.

"There's a new job for you. From a new dealer." Purpled watched him with interest. He hasn't had a new dealer in a while. "Now tell me, Purpled." Quackity's one eye peered at him, almost carefully, hesitantly, with…

Pity?

For the first time in a while, Purpled had an uneasy feeling.

"Have you heard of the Puppetmaster?"

"Yeah, yeah. I know. Drowned by his own ambition, right?" Purpled finally looked up, and the gaze in his violet eyes was electrifying. "Fine, compare me to Icarus all you want." He stood up and sheathed his sword; "I'm going to check on Ranboo."

As Tommy started to say more, Purpled met his gaze evenly; "Just know this, Theseus. They watched him fly, and they watched him fall. But maybe they forgot Icarus could swim."

Chapter Two: If the Miracle was Getting One Moment (With You?)

Purpled shuffled down the streets of Las Nevadas. Very few people were out at this hour, but Quackity liked to have Purpled arrive early. He kept his eyes lowered the whole time, aside from giving a brisk nod to Sam, a cheery builder who called a greeting to him.

Then Purpled arrived at the casino. On the end of Halo Road was a gigantic, glittering white building looking like the White House of Dream Essempi, topped with a large Las Nevadas symbol on the center section with the words ''HOUSE OF THE SNOWFALL '' in giant silver letters. A water fountain shot water and seemed to glow with the sparkly pale lanterns.

Purpled stood on the path leading up to the extensive marble double doors. He felt just a bit out of place amongst the sparkles of whites and silvers. The air fogged when he released a breath he didn't know he was holding. He hated this place.

He looked around briefly, making sure no one was around. Then, he snuck over to the small area behind the House's garden, where a pair of amber eyes shone at him expectantly. Purpled smiled at the wolf, running his hands through her long, silky snowy-white fur, just how she likes it; "G'morning, Dogchamp."

Dogchamp lapped at Purpled's hand with soft mewling noises. Purpled continued petting her as she stuck her face into his jacket, nosing around. "Hey, don't do that. I have work today." Obediently, Dogchamp pulled her face out and licked his chin as an apology.

"It's been five years now," Purpled started. Dogchamp set her paws on his knee and cocked her head, as if listening intensely. "Can you believe it? He's been gone for five years. Half a decade of me waiting for him to come home. What do you think I should do if, say, I see him again?" Purpled's breath caught. "What if he's–"

Dogchamp licked his hand.

"Yeah. I know. It's not wrong to hope, though, right?"

Dogchamp licked his hand again.

Purpled chuckled, rubbing her paws. He didn't want to tear himself away from the friendly wolf-hybrid. "Thanks, Dogchamp. I'll see you later, 'kay?"

Dogchamp yapped quietly, then seemed to become liquid as she slipped out of the bushes.

Purpled sighed when his companion left, standing up and brushing the faint traces of brownish-green from his pants. Shaking his head and muttering under his breath, Purpled strolled up to the doors. Carved into the marble-coated wood were the words "The House Always Wins," the motto of Las Nevadas, at eye level. Quite ridiculous, even for a small yet powerful state based on wealth and gambling.

Las Nevadas was ridiculous. So was Quackity. If Purpled was being honest, Las Nevadas was okay. But since Quackity was the governor, it wasn't.

Purpled entered the main lobby. A small lounge area with a TV in the corner sat next to the entrance to the pool wing. Although the House of the Snowfall was actually a fancy hotel, the casino/food and drink top floors were most popular. It was also where Purpled normally worked.

He hung his jacket on the clothing rack, checking in with Avalon, the receptionist. They were rather okay, compared to the other employees. Sometimes a bit creepy to Purpled, but generally not horrid.

"Good morning Purpled! How are you?" Purpled paused as Avalon smiled warmly and called out a greeting. He allowed a small, cautious smile in return.

"Fine, thanks. Have a nice day."

He stepped into the elevator, pushing a button for the top floor. Even the elevator box was fancy, with cheaper LED lights around the edges of the ceiling, paintings of the Quackity and the House hung up, and a plush dark blue carpet underfoot littered with candy wrappers. Purpled adjusted his tie uncomfortably. The stuffy air reeked of cigarettes, air fresheners and breath mints, a horrid combination of smells.

With a ding, the doors slid open and Purpled stepped out into the food & drink area, the floor just above the casino area. It looked way better when there were less people around, but was still a long way from looking good. The morning light filtered in through the blinds, removing the need for LED light strings or fancy lamps. A girl with straight black hair typed away on a laptop, the only one occupying the bar.

"Hey Purpled."

"Sandra," Purpled greeted, stepping up to her. "Good morning."

"Here to see my brother again?" Sandra looked up from her screen, a friendly smile on her lips.

"Yeah." Purpled sat himself down on a stool facing Sandra. Quackity's sister had the power of Sentiment; she could easily read and sometimes change nearby people's emotions. Quackity had the ability of Favored, granting him luck in all he did. It was how he claimed the House, rumors said.

"You're not looking forward to it. Is it another one?" Sandra asked.

Purpled nodded.

Sandra paused. "Everything alright?"

"Mm. Time went by, you know?"

"Yeah."

The two sat in silence for a bit. Purpled spun around in his stool idly, an old acrylic painting nearby catching his eye. It wasn't futuristic and neon, or on a screen, like many things in Las Nevadas. It seemed old and antique, and Purpled liked the mood it gave. The painting took place in a meadow at sunrise; Purpled recognized it as an event that happened about a hundred years ago.

There were four people present in the painting: Wilbur Soot, Tommy Innit, Eret Listair and Tubbo Score. They had led the rebellion of the L'Manberg Revolution. Tired of the tyranny of that time, the four men started a rebellion which quickly grew. They had fought and won a war against a man named Dream, ex-leader of Dream Essempi, and to honor Wilbur Soot –the leader of the revolution who was assassinated after the gaining of independence for L'Manberg– the city was set as the capital of Dream Essempi.

In the painting, Wilbur Soot and Tommy Innit held up the flag of L'Manberg together. It was a historical moment; the night before, during a meeting between Dream and Soot, Dream had demanded white flags of surrender at dawn the next day. The next sunrise, however, Soot and Innit flew the L'Manberg flag, and started the final battle.

Secretly, Purpled idolized Wilbur Soot. He wished he had the bravery to confront a powerful leader about what was right. He wished he had the courage to defend his ideals and beliefs.

"You shouldn't be doing this stuff, you know."

Sandra's voice snapped Purpled out of his reverie. She gazed at him cooly over the laptop. Purpled furrowed his brows. "Pardon?"

"Don't play dumb. I know you're not just a bartender. I know what you and Quackity discuss during those meetings."

When Purpled was silent, she spoke up again.

"We all know it's very dangerous. Have you considered what you're risking?"

"It's payment."

"At the cost of perhaps your life."

Purpled narrowed his eyes at her. "You think I can't take care of myself?"

"I know very well you can. But have you considered... less dangerous options?"

"Maybe it's my only."

Before Sandra could make another witty remark, the office door slid open and Quackity poked his head out. "Hey, space boy."

"Good morning."

Quackity met eyes with his sister. Sandra glared scathingly at him. Quackity sighed, shaking his head. He turned his gaze back to Purpled. "I'm ready for you."

Purpled nodded before following Quackity into the office.

Chapter Two: If the Miracle was Getting One Moment (With You?)

An hour before six, Purpled's alarm clock woke him up.

He flipped over in bed, eyes not even open yet, and turned off the alarm. Purpled laid there for about a minute, then sounded a soft groan. Violet-lavender eyes fluttered open and stared up at the ceiling for a few moments. His room was themed electric purple galaxy, with LED lights strung up everywhere, illuminating posters of outer space. His ceiling was painted black with glow-in-the-dark celestial stickers. A thin stream of sunlight was filtering through his dark purple curtains.

Not wanting to leave his bed, Purpled found interest in Frères, a small star sticker he'd gazed at countless times before. Where was it? When they had first installed the stickers, they gave up organizing the cosmic beings, and just put the remainder on randomly.

"You know what, Punzo? I don't think it matters where each one goes."

"But you like organized things, and constellations."

Purpled smiled. "It's okay, really. You've been working on this for two hours now, I'd feel guilty. Just stick them randomly, it'll look good anyway."

"Yeah, okay..." Punz hesitated before peeling off a star and sticking it to the direct middle of the ceiling. "Frères," he said proudly.

The two spent the rest of the afternoon finishing decorations together in silence, with a playlist in the background.

"If you stay within the light, I'll always find you, looking for the moon..."

Purpled tore his gaze away, the hole in his heart making itself known. He rolled upright, eyes lowered as he changed out of his crumpled tee into a midnight purple suit over a white button-up and cyber-purple tie.

He stared at his reflection in the mirror. He saw a young man, perhaps in his early twenties. Sandy-blond hair with purple ends curled past his ears, framing a handsome face with high cheekbones and a sharp jaw. Bright purple eyes shone just a bit, barely covering the bags. Two antennae with small purple orbs at the end shivered in the air, having to do with his electrical powers.

He was barely eighteen. He looked a lot older than he should be.

An advantage to that was the ability to lie about his age.

Purpled exited his room, shutting the door softly. In the warm glow of the morning sun, his empty, clean kitchen had a cozy look to it. Purpled passed by a potted plant with wide leaves, in an ugly green and orange pot. Punz thought the pot was funny and insisted they kept it, so Purpled never changed it. Now it stuck out like a pimple in his clear, modern white kitchen, but if he was being honest, Purpled almost didn't want to get rid of it. He mentally noted the plant was taller than the last time he actually noticed it.

He shuffled to the coffee maker and placed a random mug underneath it, starting it up and leaving to water his plants. There were plants on every shelf and windowsill in the apartment. Most of them were small flowers and cacti, with a few larger pots in the corners. A cute bamboo plant sat next to the couch. He watered them all, his lips twitching as he remembered how Punz scolded Purpled for "not having oxygen" the first time he visited.

Soon the bitter smell of fresh coffee brought Purpled back to the kitchen. He mindlessly picked up the cup and took a sip. He almost spat it back out. The steaming liquid trailed a rough taste down his throat as he stared at the mug. It wasn't his usual mug; smooth, round and lavender. It was white. It was bumpy.

Shit. I'm such a fucking idiot.

How could I be so stupid?

Quickly, Purpled set his beverage down and headed towards the door, movements mechanical. I'm such an idiot. He swiftly pulled on a black jacket over his suit, shutting the door quietly as he exited the apartment. How did I screw up so badly?

Five years. Five whole years.

Purpled shook the thoughts out of his head and shifted his jacket, not wanting to remember that godsdamed traitor any longer.

He left the cup of coffee on the counter, cooling in his dead brother's mug.

Chapter Two: If the Miracle was Getting One Moment (With You?)

Sleep.

Sleep was great. Sleep was something Purpled didn't get much of.

As far as the public was concerned, Iris didn't need sleep. He could fully function at two in the morning. But Purpled did.

Sleep was important. Rest was something everyone needed.

As far as the public was concerned, Iris is unbreakable. But they didn't know Purpled was. They didn't know about Purpled's state after missions.

Sleep was precious. Purpled longed to get a full night's rest every night.

Of course, that was impossible. Once in a while, Iris gets sent on missions, since the nighttime is the best time for such. Those missions usually last till the early hours of morning. Some nights, his other job required him to stay up at the Nevadas Casino. And sometimes when he could get sleep, he'd wake up from nightmares.

Most of them were about his brother.

Sometimes he was surrounded by mist in a dark void. He'd hear Punz's voice all around, but he never found him.

Sometimes he was drowning, and he'd see a pale hand and a white sleeve outstretched for him, but never reached.

Sometimes it was him being strangled by crimson vines, with Punz's voice murmuring about giving up in his ear.

Sometimes he'd dream about blurry past memories and wake up with a heavy heart.

Most times he woke up from a dream, it was about Punz.

Why?

Iris didn't have weaknesses, but Purpled did.

He missed Punz desperately, with every inch of his being. Purpled longed to be in his strong arms again, to breathe in his familiar scent of vanilla and hand soap, with faint hints of something sharp like bleach. He longed to hear He longed for just one more minute together.

But of course, none of that was possible, and at the end of the day, he would always be alone.
