The Badlands-Dream SMP conflict is an event that took place between the Badlands and the Dream SMP surrounding the struggle between the newly crowned King George and the former king Eret for kingship of the Dream SMP. The broader conflict also included disputes over status of the Badlands' independence, and the legitimacy of their territorial claims.
Backround[]
Eret's Dethronement[]
Following Eret's decision to side with Pogtopia in the Manberg vs Pogtopia War, Dream requested Eret to return to his castle, with Punz, George and Callahan being brought to the castle as well. In the throne room, Dream revealed that he knew about Eret's betrayal of the Dream SMP faction and ordered Eret to take his crown off.[1] Although Eret initially resisted, he was then ousted from the castle by Dream and Punz. Due to the chain of command system that Dream had put in place after the first L'Manberg war, George was crowned as the new King of Dream SMP, taking ownership of the castle.[2]
History[]
Consolidating borders[]
After the Chaos War, Bad, Ant and Sam try to recruit Eret into their faction to aid them in taking control of the territorial claims, but they reject the offer, as joining the Badlands would conflict with their goal of supporting L'Manberg.[3] After finding out that George is now the King of the Dream SMP, the Badlands come up with an idea to assassinate George to return power to Eret, but Dream pledges to defend George. Dream acknowledges that the Badlands are their own faction but rejects the claim that they own any territory on the server, and also rejects their claim of having the most power on the server. The Badlands and Dream banter over who would win in a battle between the two groups. Punz eventually joins the call, with Dream requesting that he log on to help defend the crown against the Badlands. The Badlands, and more specifically Sam, claim to have secret techniques, giving them the upper hand. Techno finds out about George being crowned King of the Dream SMP, and joins the call in hopes killing George to maintain the new state of seeming anarchy on the server.[4]
The Duel[]
The group continues to argue back and forth about combat mechanics and who is most likely to win the duel on their way to Church Prime. Sam and Dream prepare for a duel close to the Holy Land. After everyone has arrived, George shoots an arrow into the air, declaring that the fight will begin when the arrow touches the ground. once the arrow hits the ground, Sam hits Dream, who is still in the Holy Land, and Techno jokingly starts attacking Sam due to the laws of the Holy Land, with Ant and Bad rushing to defend him. Techno yells at Dream and Punz for not helping him, who for their part both eventually join in, with Dream starting his 1v1 against Sam, and Punz firing a few shots at Ant. Eventually Techno, Punz, Bad, and Ant stop fighting to watch Dream and Sam duel.
After a fairly short fight, Dream eventually wins, claiming that he still has fully health and that little damage was done to his armor. After Sam fails to come up with a valid reason for his defeat, the rest of the Badlands members eventually concede. Sam reveals his plan, which was to use potions of the turtle master with the riptide trident, and Sam mentions that he stopped using the plan due to his armor durability. Dream restates that George is the King of the Dream SMP, while also adding that it only is a title and that the King's power comes from those defending the title. The Badlands accept it, but then try to manipulate George to declare everything within their towers as their land. George denies their request.
Conflict at the Castle[]
After denying the Badlands request for the recognition of their claims, George leads the group to Eret's Castle, where he sits atop his throne with Callahan by his side and Dream guarding him, presumably to personally reaffirm his title as King to the Badlands. Eret secretly conspires with Techno to assassinate George in the throne room. While the Badlands observe King George on his throne, Techno appears out of nowhere, killing George. As Techno escapes, the Badlands kill Callahan and Eret tries to sit on the thrown, however Dream attempts to reasserts himself by knocking Eret off the throne and thretenening to take both Bad and Ant in a fight. Techno ends up giving George his items back so he doesn't have to fight Dream. Sam tries to get George to move back in with him by taking the armor, but eventually gives in and returns the items.
Aftermath[]
After all is said and done, George remains King of the Dream SMP. Despite their political victory, Dream and George both agree to let Eret stay in the castle, similar to HBomb's deal. Dream officially grants the Badlands the same technical independence that was given to L'Manberg, where Dream SMP technically owns everything, but the Badlands are also present and can claim their land. In response to the partial recognition of the Badlands territorial claims, they recognize George's kingship, settling the conflict. The group then pays a visit to George's hobbit house. After everyone left the Castle, Eret ended up taking the golden throne from their castle, along with vowing to eventually re-assume their position as King of the Dream SMP.
