Canonical chats are the livestream chats of some Dream SMP members who have chosen to canonize it in a way that fits with their character. The extent to which each chat is integrated into the canon varies; Technoblade's voices and Ranboo's particles are core parts of their characters, whereas most other DSMP characters rarely acknowledge or interact with their canonical chats in lore and use them to engage with the chat in non-canon moments.

Phil's chat is a flock of crows that only he can understand. These crows retcon Phil having voices in his head, making his chat no longer representing disembodied voices. These crows follow him around, and he has to calm them constantly.[11] The bits the chat donates are trinkets the crows bring him, and the channel/subscriber badges are necklaces he's given different crows.[12]
Ponk[]
Ponk's chat are represented by little lemons with arms and legs.[13]
Ranboo[]
Ranboo is surrounded by floating ender particles that represent his chat. The particles are drawn towards him by something similar to a magnetic force and cannot go very far away from him.[14] They know what happens while Ranboo is in his enderwalk state, but can't tell him. He has also stated that the "experiments" of a currently unknown nature have helped him communicate with the particles better, and that beforehand he could only understand "random noises" rather than actually talk to them. The particles disapprove of the experiments, but Ranboo tries to reason with them that he is doing the experiments to "find out some things" and that there are also positives to them such as the fact that the particles are now able to communicate with him better because of them, as beforehand he could only understand "random noises" from them. Ranboo is also capable of sending the particles away with a clap of his hands, though he doesn't actually know where exactly they go.[15]
Seapeekay[]
Seapeekay's chat is canonically represented by wisps.[16]
Technoblade[]
- Main article: Voices in Technoblade's head
According to Technoblade, there are "countless" voices that are "crazy" with a thirst for blood. Although they sometimes are sad or angry, most of the time, they demand blood and violence. Despite their bloodthirst, the voices tend to be quite protective of Philza, Ghostbur, Ranboo, and sometimes Tommy. In the past, Technoblade followed the voices, but, over time, he became better at ignoring them.[17]
TommyInnit[]
Tommy's chat takes the form of a Nokia 3310 mobile phone located in his pants pocket. The phone buzzes every time he gets a sub.[18]
Tubbo[]
Tubbo's chat is a pond composed of ducks. He refers to them as "Tubblings."[19]
Trivia[]
- Technoblade was the first person to integrate their chat into their character.
- Ranboo's particles are partially inspired by the Soot Sprites from Spirited Away.
