The Knights of the Dream SMP, representative of the Dream SMP Government as a whole, were the primary military force and governing body of the Greater Dream SMP.
History[]
The Knights of the Dream SMP were formed from the Dream SMP Unity Coalition following the end of the Dream Team SMP vs. L'Manberg War. After Eret was crowned King of the Dream SMP, a chain of command was set up, whereby George would succeed Eret in the event of their dethronement or death, with Sapnap, and then Punz following.
Individual members of the Knights would act together for more personal conflicts after the war, specifically during The Pet War, though the Knights as an institution would remain mostly ceremonial for a decent amount of time. However, the entire group would not be called to battle until the dawn of the Manberg vs Pogtopia War. Due to Eret's betrayal of the Greater Dream SMP via siding with Pogtopia for the war instead of staying neutral, Dream would make the decision to dethrone him, crowing George as the new king in the process. Dream would reaffirm the commitment of the Knights of the Dream SMP to defend George, and the interest of the greater Dream SMP, with George designating Callahan as his squire.
With the exception of George and Callahan, the Knights of the Dream SMP would end up participating in the Manberg vs Pogtopia War, however they would be representing Manberg as the Greater Dream SMP was not officially involved in the conflict. After the end of the war, Dream would form Team Chaos in opposition to the new L'Manberg government. Eventually, the Chaos War would break out very soon after, and the knights would find themselves siding with Technoblade and the Badlands against L'Manberg and its allies. By the end of the war, the main aim of reabsorbing L'Manberg back into the Dream SMP had failed, though L'Manberg would now be forced to rebuild.
A few weeks after the Chaos War, Tommy would set the Exile Conflict in motion by burning down George's house. This would end up being a massive diplomatic incident, as the Vice President of L'Manberg had just burned down the vacation home of the King of the Greater Dream SMP. Dream would quickly respond by building a wall around L'Manberg, in an attempt to force L'Manberg's government to punish Tommy for his actions. Following a series of negotiations and a trial in the Dream SMP court, Tommy would be forced into a two week probation, and be temporarily stripped of his vice presidency. Dream wouldn't agree to these terms, and a second meeting would be held a few days after to iron out the details. As a result of the second meeting, Dream would threaten to use the wall to trap all of L'Manberg's citizens inside, while hiring Punz and Sapnap to patrol around the wall to keep anyone from leaving in the event that Tommy is not exiled.
Following the second meeting, Dream would meet with George to relive him of his kingship due to his recent actions, and in order to protect him. However, this discussion would break down as Sapnap would arrive in support of George. Despite this, Punz would also side with Dream's decision, and Eret would be crowned king once again. This would end with the de-facto dissolution of the political system if the Knights if the Dream SMP.
On December 6, 2020, Eret would declare the creation of the Knights of Eret, with Puffy, Hbomb, and Punz being recruited. The Knights of Eret would prove to be a much more independent entity to the original Knights of the Dream SMP, as the loyalty of the Knights of Eret would lie squarely with the King of the Greater Dream SMP. Punz's position in the Greater Dream SMP would quickly shift to a role as the de-facto right hand man of Dream, as his loyalty to Eret was essentially non-existent, especially after he himself would leave the Knights of Eret. This new system would essentially replace the military wing of the Knights of the Dream SMP as an organization, as the Knights of Eret would act as the new de-facto military force of the Greater Dream SMP and the King. the political and governing aspect of the group would continue on as Dream continuing to serve as leader with punz now serving as his right hands man.

- It is likely that Dream dethroned George so he could count on him to fight on Dream's side in the event of war with L'manberg, as George would serve the interests of the Greater Dream SMP more effectively as a knight then as a neutral figurehead.
- The ideology of the Knights was mainly centered around the idea of Kratocracy, with only the strongest members of the faction holding a position in the government, save for Callahan.
- The Knights tended to act more as a force of guardians for the Greater Dream SMP, rather then a true governing force, with their authority as representatives of the Kingdom only being called upon in the event of armed conflict with another nation or group.
- While Callahan is not a Knight, a squire is an aspiring Knight by definition, and as such, he is considered a former, low-ranking member of the Knights of the Dream SMP
- Seeing as Dream and Eret ended up offering George a position as Knight following his dethronement, it seems as though holders of the position King automatically lose their former position as Knight in the event of their dethronement, as opposed to returning to their previous position(though it is very possible that the offer of Knighthood for George could have just been a lore oversight by Dream)
