The L'Manberg civil conflict was a brief conflict between Fundy and Tubbo that started after Tubbo took Fundy's prized shovel in retaliation for Fundy taking a netherite ingot from Karl Jacobs.
Background[]
On August 31, 2020, Fundy took Karl's netherite ingot while Eret dropped it to give to Karl in the Community House. He immediately logged out and refused to return it, calling it a win for himself.[1] Sometime after, Fundy applied the netherite ingot to his chestplate.
In retaliation for the stolen netherite, Karl griefed Fundy's base and stole a "Cat" music disc. On September 1, Tubbo took Fundy's prized shovel named "His longer schlong" from a hidden chest under Fundy's base.[2]
Conflict[]
Fundy's confrontation[]
The following day, Fundy angrily logged on to confront Tubbo. Armed with weapons, Fundy demanded to speak to Tubbo. Tubbo, however, ignored Fundy and searched for weapons with Karl. Eventually, Fundy joined their voice chat and ordered Tubbo to return His Longer Schlong. Tubbo played stupid to stall, pretending to not know what Fundy was asking for and eventually replying that he returned the His Longer Schlong to the chest. Tubbo suggested that Punz took it, and Fundy started believing that Tubbo was telling the truth. Fundy then left to search Punz's tower.[3]
Duel for His longer schlong[]
After finding enough resources to fight, Tubbo suggested holding a duel; if Fundy won, he would get His longer schlong back. Fundy agreed to the duel, and the duel was held on the Prime Path near The Socializing Club. Fundy quickly overpowered Tubbo with potions and his superior equipment, winning the duel. Tubbo conceded and agreed to return the shovel. Nonetheless, Karl still wanted his netherite ingot back and asked for it. Fundy responded by asking for his music disc back. Unbeknownst to Karl, however, Fundy did not actually care about the disc and was planning to scam Karl. Fundy executed his plan, handing Karl a netherite scrap in return for the disc with Tubbo and Jack Manifold spectating. The three immediately recognized the scam and chased after Fundy, gaining possession of all his items.[4]
Tommy intervenes[]
Noticing the conflict, TommyInnit decided to intervene to protect L'Manberg. After getting a brief summary from Jack, Tommy stepped in to stop the arguing and get more details. Failing to hear over the bickering, Tommy asked for each side to privately give their account of the events, starting with Fundy. Fundy admitted to scamming Karl and fellow L'Manbergians and asked Tommy for help, offering to give a cut. Dissatisfied with Fundy's actions, Tommy stopped Fundy and explained his point of view, which was that the son of L'Manberg's President scammed a member in the L'Manberg administration and attempted to bribe the Vice President. He then told Fundy that bribing was not allowed and that they had to settle the matter before Wilbur returned before asking for more of Fundy's account. Fundy explained that he took a netherite ingot from Karl and that Tubbo got involved by stealing His longer schlong despite not having anything to do with the netherite situation. Tommy played devil's advocate, telling Fundy that he had was working against his father's wishes by starting conflict with fellow L'Manbergians and was acting pettily. Fundy defended his choice and told Tommy that Tubbo was going to lie.[5][6]
After speaking with Fundy, Tommy inquired Tubbo for his side of the story. Although Tommy wanted the conversation to remain between him and Tubbo, Karl and Jack also joined the call. Before allowing Tubbo to speak, Tommy informed Tubbo that he stole from a fellow L'Manbergian to assist a member of the Dream SMP. Tubbo told Tommy that he returned His longer schlong and that Fundy tried to kill him. He explained that he called for a duel because Fundy tried to kill him. Tommy berated Tubbo for organizing fights between citizens of L'Manberg, but Jack supported Tubbo by mentioning that Tommy started a fight club. Fundy, who joined in the middle of their defense, stated that their fight was legal and outside of L'Manberg. He also noted that Tubbo killed them after losing the duel. Tommy then asked Tubbo to continue with his account, and Tubbo explained that he and Karl were using the duel to get the netherite ingot back. Fundy exclaimed that no stakes were set, and Tubbo confirmed that there were no stakes for the fight while explaining that they asked Fundy for the netherite ingot back after the duel. Following a short interruption by Karl, Tubbo explained that they attacked Fundy after he tried to scam them and flee during the disc deal. Fundy argued that he made a mistake and slowly walked away, not fleeing the scene. Unhappy with the constant interjections and lack of progress, Tommy deafened to let them argue. Tommy undeafened momentarily after, allowing Tubbo to continue. Tubbo explained that Karl was in possession of Fundy's chestplate and would keep it until Fundy returned the netherite ingot. Fundy protested, stating that multiple items were stolen from him and noting that Tubbo was in possession of Fundy's other items. In response, Tubbo dropped Fundy's items in his inventory to Tommy. After hearing both sides, Tommy reminded Tubbo that he sided with a member of the Dream SMP against a fellow L'Manbergian. Jack defended Tubbo, calling him a man of justice.[7]
Negotiations[]
Interrupting Tommy, Fundy offered to give a netherite ingot in return for His longer schlong and his other items. Disagreements over the original terms of the duel and who was responsible for returning which items continued. Fundy grew tired and demanded for his items back, using his duel against Sapnap as justification. Tubbo refused to back down without the netherite ingot and used Fundy's Axe Body Spray to kill a spider, further angering Fundy. Tommy also stepped in on Fundy's request, advising Tubbo to return everything since Wilbur might punish him for taking Fundy's items and for Tubbo to stop siding with members of the Dream SMP. Fundy agreed to finding a new netherite ingot for Karl, prompting Tubbo to returning the items he had, the Axe Body Spray and a water bucket.[8][9]
Karl then interjected to give his thoughts, putting the focus on him. Fundy reiterated to Karl his offer to gather a new netherite ingot if his items were returned. Fundy demanded for his armor back first, but Karl refused. Growing tired of the conflict and realizing that it was petty personal conflict that had little effect on L'Manberg, Tommy demanded that they solve the conflict within the next five minutes. Tubbo began drawing his bow, leading to Tommy reengaging and demanding Tubbo to return everything and stop threatening his own allies. Although Tubbo talked back and claimed that Fundy was lying about having no protection, Tommy was tired of the conflict and left the two to talk with Karl.[10][11]
As Karl talked to Tommy about becoming British and joining L'Manberg, Fundy and Tubbo sorted the situation out. Fundy asked for Tubbo to facilitate the return of his netherite chestplate from Karl so that he could safely mine for netherite, but Tubbo insisted for Fundy to return the netherite ingot first. Tubbo believed that Fundy had diamond armor in his inventory to protect him, but Fundy didn't have any armor at all. Fundy eventually consented to Tubbo killing him to confirm it. Seeing that Fundy was telling the truth, Tubbo became less confrontational. Upon rejoining the call, Karl returned Fundy's netherite chestplate and bow as a show of good faith. Fundy promised to gather a new netherite ingot for Karl, seemingly settling the matter.[12]
Renegotiations[]
Shortly after making the promise with Karl, Fundy declared that he had no intention to mine for more netherite. While searching Eret's castle for netherite to "borrow," Fundy looked in his ender chest and decided to offer an unenchanted netherite chestplate with thirteen durability to Karl to save himself time so that he could prepare for his fight with Sapnap. While pitching his offer, Fundy also added a Mending enchantment book to the offer. Tubbo asked Fundy to add in his unenchanted, damaged netherite leggings and boots. Fundy rejected the request, instead offering to repair the chestplate. After some back and forth on how much Fundy would restore the chestplate to, the two sides agreed on 223 durability.[13]
After getting the chestplate to 222 durability, renaming the chestplate to "223," and grabbing a leather tunic to give as pranks, Fundy approached Karl to complete the deal. In one last attempt to scam, Fundy tried to gaslight Karl into paying seven diamonds. Karl pushed back with the help of Tubbo, leading to Fundy lowering his request to Karl signing a piece of paper with "Signed by Karl; I love Fundy." Karl agreed, writing in a book and quill provided by Fundy a message promoting Twitch Prime for Fundy and signing the book. Fundy was satisfied and handed the chestplate over, restoring relations with Karl and Tubbo.[14] Tubbo later returned His longer schlong to Fundy on September 9, completing the deal and thus ending the conflict.[15]
