The resistance against the Eggpire was an undeclared conflict between the Eggpire and the various anti-Eggpire movements across the Dream SMP. The conflict escalated upwards until Red Banquet, where the Eggpire was ultimately defeated by Pro-Omelette and the other opposition groups. After the critical defeat of the Eggpire at the Red Banquet, the Eggpire effectively fractured and the resistance emerged victorious. However, the Egg returned in secret with the help of Skeppy and Ponk. After the Egg kidnapped CaptainPuffy, the Egg conflict allowed the Egg to slaughter its remaining opponents and finally hatch.
Prelude[]
Ancient resistance against the Egg[]
Main article: Tales from the SMP/The Masquerade
In c. 1857, the Egg had been in the hands of Sir Billiam III (portrayed by Technoblade) and his butler (portrayed by Ranboo). Sir Billiam III held a masquerade party to lure notable and wealthy individuals into his mansion, where they would be kidnapped and brought before the Egg as sacrifices. His plan proved successful as Karl (portrayed by Karl Jacobs), Lord Sebastian (portrayed by BadBoyHalo), Drew P. Wiener (portrayed by Quackity), Lyaria (portrayed by Nihachu), James (portrayed by Sapnap), and Oliver (portrayed by Fundy) were brought to the mansion. When the lights of the mansion mysteriously flickered off at random intervals, the people went missing one by one. Eventually, Karl was the only one left and was brought into the Egg's presence by Sir Billiam III and his butler. Sir Billiam III explained that the Egg needed sacrifices to grow. Karl attempted to resist, however was stopped by the butler and ultimately executed.[1]
In some unknown time before the Disc Saga, Sam Bucket lived a quiet and peaceful life with his dog, Francis. However, when Francis died, he began to go insane and started hearing voices. One day, while mining in a ravine, he discovered blood vines. He investigated the sources and eventually found the Egg. The Egg promised to bring Francis back from the dead if Bucket did its every command, a proposition he agreed to. As the Egg's blood vines spread across the world, his friends confronted him. He ultimately fought and killed his friends to defend the Egg. After the bloodshed, he slowly came to his senses and realized that he was destroying everything he loved just for some false hope of achieving an impossible goal. With this, he broke free from the Egg's control and discovered that it had a weakness to iron. Bucket then sealed the destroyed the blood vines and sealed the Egg away and went into hiding.[2]
Rediscovery of the Egg[]
On December 6, 2020, BadBoyHalo was mining out his statue room when he discovered the Egg. He revealed his discovery to Awesamdude and Dream. Both of them were disturbed by what they felt to be an evil presence, however BadBoyHalo became quickly infactuated with the strange object.[3]
Early resistance against the Egg[]
Upon the rediscovery of the Egg by Bad, Sam, and Dream, the latter of the two tried to destroy some of the blood vines it had spread around the statue room. Bad responded by attacking both of them, fighting to protect the Egg. The three of them explored around the map and found some blood vines throughout the Dream SMP. Sam and Dream attempted to get rid of the blood vines, but Bad attacked them again, claiming they were hurting it. Another small skirmish between Bad, Sam, and Dream over the blood vines occurred at Bad and Skeppy's mansion.[3]
Later, Sapnap learned about the Egg and attempted to destroy it. Bad attacked Sapnap and rebuilt the broken parts of the Egg. Sam discovered blood vines had taken over his house and cleared it out. Sam told Antfrost what had happened with the blood vines in his house, much to Ant's dismay as he was slowly growing attached to the Egg. JackManifoldTV became an early opponent of the Egg's presence, meanwhile Puffy grew attached to it.[3]
Skeppy attempted to destroy the Egg as well, although Bad and Ant attempted to stop him. Skeppy was confused about why Bad was so obsessed with the object and decided to trap himself inside of it to learn. When he reemerged, his skin had turned red and he became possessed with an undying love for the Egg's very existence.
