So We Are Gamers (SWAG), also known as SWAG2020, was a political party in L'Manberg during the L'Manberg Independence Arc and SWAG2020 vs POG2020 Election. Although it never got to officially rule L'Manberg, it eventually merged into Schlatt2020 and became part of the Jschlatt Administration.

History[]

Creation[]

On September 4, 2020, Wilbur Soot and TommyInnit declared an election in L'Manberg to try and consolidate more power within their country. They formed a political they titled The Right The Best and bragged about their plans to Quackity. Quackity, seeing the election as a way to consolidate power himself, proclaimed his own party and candidacy in the election. He called his party So We Are Gamers or SWAG. In response, Wilbur and Tommy renamed their party to the Politicians of Gaming (POG). The two parties then began campaigning in preparations for the election.

Early activities[]

SWAG began campaigning for the election early on, scrambling to find endorsements and allies within the Greater Dream SMP. Quackity, having luck on his side, managed to get the influential member of the SMP GeorgeNotFound on his side. George ended up becoming Quackity's running mate for the election.

Debate[]

On September 8, 2020, four days after the creation of the parties, the members of SWAG and POG came together to hold a presidential debate. Under the guidance of Karl Jacobs and later Tubbo, the two parties debated a series of topics relating to who can live in L'Manberg, corruption in the government, the Pet War, taxation, and other things. The debate ended inconclusively when Wilbur and Tommy decided to quit after violence broke out.

Election and dissolution[]

On September 20, 2020, the main election rally was held. The two leading candidates for SWAG and POG, Quackity and Wilbur, both gave quick speeches before Wilbur went over the rules for the election and how things were to happen. Once Wilbur was done, his ambitious son Fundy got up on the L'Manberg Podium and, along with Nihachu, declared candidacy for the election under Coconut2020. Wilbur tried to send the new party away, however failed and was forced to add them to the election.[1] After this incident, the parties announced their endorsements. SWAG tried to invoke KSI as their endorsement, however it was invalidated due to KSI never agreeing to endorse SWAG. POG then brought in Vikkstar123 and Jschlatt as their endorsements. However, Schlatt refused to endorse POG and instead proclaimed his own candidacy under Schlatt2020.[2] Things became chaotic as Wilbur and Tommy tried to prevent Schlatt2020's candidacy, Dream endorsed Schlatt and gave him a crossbow, and a battle broke out. Seeing no other options, Wilbur officially dropped the electoral ballot and it was voting time for the election.

After the diaster of the election rally, the members of SWAG and POG came together to discuss the situation. Wilbur proposed a deal to Quackity that the parties of SWAG and POG were to be merged into one party with a coalition government under Wilbur, Quackity, and Tommy. However, Wilbur made the deal conditional, saying it would only happen in the event of a Coconut2020 or Schlatt2020 victory in the election. Quackity knew that he could never win the election on his own and rejected the conditional deal.

Later that night, after the failure to broker a deal between SWAG and POG, Quackity met with Jschlatt. Quackity proposed to Schlatt that SWAG votes would be pulled and merged with Schlatt2020 votes to win the election. This deal was unconditional, the only catch being that it meant a coalition government where Quackity was to be Schlatt's vice president. Schlatt accepted without hesitation as he knew that he could never win the election on his own.

On September 22, 2020, two days after the disastrous election rally, the people in the election came back together on the L'Manberg Podium. Wilbur declared what was to happen and then began announcing the election results. In fourth and last place, with 9% of the vote, was Coconut2020. Schlatt2020 got third place with 16% of the vote. In third place, with 30% of the vote, was SWAG. In first place was POG with 45% of the vote. However, once the deal between Quackity and Schlatt was brought in, the combined votes of SWAG and Schlatt2020 held 46% of the vote. Winning by 1%, the coalition government between Quackity and Schlatt were inaugurated.

Aftermath[]

In his inauguration speech and first decree as the president of L'Manberg, Jschlatt proclaimed himself an emperor and revoked the citizenship of Wilbur Soot and TommyInnit. With this, Quackity became the vice president of L'Manberg. Wilbur and Tommy were forced to flee, being exiled to what later became Pogtopia. SWAG no longer existed at this point, now being incorporated into Schlatt2020 as part of the Jschlatt Administration.

Political positions[]

Immigration[]

The party of SWAG took a pro-immigration stance, arguing that anybody regardless of whether or not they were European should be allowed in the country. This stance was partially influenced by the fact that Quackity himself, being a non-European, was forbidden from even entering L'Manberg.

Police[]

Contrary to POG, SWAG argued that a police force was unnecessary and that the government should instill better values in their citizens. Hypothetically, this would dissuade the people of L'Manberg from committing crimes and therefore making police obsolete and unnecessary. SWAG also accused POG of only wanting to be police statists that threw people in prison. In modern political contexts, this is usually considered "anti-police sentiment".

Corruption[]

Similarly to POG, SWAG considers itself to be an anti-corruption party. What makes SWAG's position differing from POG's, however, was that SWAG believed POG itself was the corrupt party that needed to be fought.

Taxes[]

While the issue of taxation was brought up during the L'Manberg Presidential Debate, SWAG simply said they would make "bigger things" without directly addressing the issue of taxation.
